AEC TRUCK STEERING WHEEL REBUILD

As presented. One of a number of AEC wheels that we received requiring a total rebuild.
Quite a challenge, owner was desperate, because he couldn't find another for his truck.

Salvaging what little I could of this wheel.

New rim fitted, leaving sections of the original thickness on the spokes as a guide.

New centre beginning to take shape. My Dad's old lathe is invaluable!

Start of forming up the spokes. I used a two part epoxy with high tensile strength to sculpt the spokes.

Beginning to take shape - trick is to get the correct contours.

prepared and sealed ready for plastic top coat.

Wheel finished and ready for another 50 years.
